TROY SAVENKO
Troy leads the firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group. Bankruptcy is a practice that requires a general practitioner with a versatile skill set. Troy has experience representing a variety of clients in a diverse array of proceedings. He began his career with the law firm of LeClairRyan where he gained significant experience representing the debtor-in-possession in sophisticated Chapter 11 cases such as In re: Tultex Corp., et al., Case No. 99-03626 (Bankr. W.D.Va., 1999), In re: Heilig Meyers Co., et al., Case No. 00-34533 (Bankr. E.D.Va., 2000), and In re: Fas Mart Convenience Stores, Inc., et al., Case No. 01-60386 (Bankr. E.D.Va., 2001). Troy also handled litigation on behalf of Chapter 7 trustees, secured lenders, landlords, and other parties in interest in bankruptcy proceedings and in state and federal courts concerning a variety of issues including UCC rights, debtor-in-possession financing, executory contracts and leases, plan confirmation, preference actions, asset sales and claim litigation.
Troy also has experience in the field of sports law which, like bankruptcy, is a practice that requires a versatile lawyer. He has represented agents, athletes and a former franchise owner and teaches Sports Law as an Adjunct Professor at the College of William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
Additional Information
Troy is very active in local bar activities for the Richmond Bar Association and Virginia Bar Association. He served on the Executive Committee for the Young Lawyers Section of the Richmond Bar Association prior to becoming President in 2006.
