BURKE S. LEWIS
Burke’s practice includes the acquisition, financing, land use permitting, development, leasing and disposition of commercial real estate. He has represented a wide range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses and individuals.
Examples of Burke’s transactional experience include representing: a chemical company in the acquisition of land for the development of a plant; power companies in multiple transactions including the acquisition of permitted properties for the development of plants; a regional homebuilder in its sale to a national company and the day-to-day counseling of the merged homebuilding entities; family estates in the disposition of multiple hotels and other commercial properties; and a railroad in its preparation for the conveyance of seventy miles of right-of-way in a “rails to trails” program.
Burke’s land use experience has included rezonings and other land use permitting in connection with commercial developments and telecommunication facilities, obtaining vested right determinations on behalf of a developer and assisting a Virginia locality with a comprehensive assessment of its zoning and subdivision ordinances in connection with overhauling the ordinances.
Prior to joining Gregory Kaplan, PLC, Burke practiced commercial real estate law with Davis, Graham & Stubbs, LLP in Denver and McGuireWoods, LLP in Richmond.
